Too many productivity hacks and complicated routines

730 words

Productivity, self development, life hacks be like:

A list of things to do, then another list of things NOT to do. So many rules, so much work, but shit still ain't getting done.

What we get is a complicated self maintenance, daily, weekly routines, keeping us busy, running in circles, instead of doing the actual work, something meaningful (that probably scares us, so it is easier just to follow some theoretical routines).

"Should I start working on that new project idea, make a contact with those weird dudes to explore possibilities... oh no, I can't, I haven't done my Duolingo today yet!"

"Should I finish the article... oh no, I can't, it is too late, I'll break the "no blue screen after 8pm" rule!"

It seems life was so much simpler before digging into productivity topic, now I just worry 24/7 if I follow up with all the smart routines, that is going to make me super effective, healthy and brilliant.

Too many rules, a complex routine to follow, it is counter productive, it is a distraction. Don't get locked into silly, complicated routines, focus on real tasks and projects.

"I had 8 hours of sleep, straight to the gym, did meditate, checked no social media, no Pornhub, had no meal at Mcdonald's" — sure you were a good boy, but the projects haven't moved a bit. It is a bit disappointing, but all those fancy hacks are not going to get it done for you, if YOU don't actually DO it.

You know why are there so many "smart" tricks? Youtubers and other content creators need to invent them, to have material to sell for the views. Fake hype, exaggeration with results, classic.

Life frame, it can actually be pretty straightforward:

  1. simple self maintain + stuff
design routine, that you can actually follow, doesn't take too much time, doesn't take too much space in your mind, does not ruin your workflow, doesn't fuck with your focus, doesn't take all the joy
  2. kill tasks, projects
be honest with yourself, what you really want to do, write it on the paper, not to forget about it in this chaotic, full of distractions world, use reminders, track progress, tick it off once it's done, and on to the next one; this area should be your main focus, your main drive, build flexible self maintain routine around it, put it on autopilot
  3. dare & believe
hard work, discipline, showing up every day, even if you don't feel like it, that sure helps, but if you don't grow a pair of balls, you will be picking countless empty tasks & projects, instead of going after the real deal; heavier the project, heavier the discomfort, heavier the satisfaction

SL: Preveč produktivnost trikov in komplicirane rutine
